She says 'Weasel' (as in the animal), rather than the correct 'Vee-zel.' In German, she pronounces the word 'Achtung' (attention!) as 'Achtone'. Every time she said 'Kaddish' - as in the prayer for the dead - she pronounced it 'Kiddush' - the blessing you say over wine! She doesn't even pronounce the author, Elie Wiesel's name correctly. Narrator mispronounces EVERY Hebrew & German word!Īs a rabbi, I found it genuinely heartbreaking that a publisher comes out with an audiobook narrated by someone who obviously does not know even the most BASIC pronunciation of some of the common words Jews speak all over the world (whether they know Hebrew or not).
